The Centre for Mechatronics and Automation Technology sees itself as a development partner with the aim of industrialising and transferring technology from research and development results. In our development work, we collaborate closely with institutes and departments at Saarland University (UdS) and the University of Applied Sciences (htw saar). Professors from the relevant fields, particularly mechatronics, supervise the highly qualified scientific staff working at the research centre. This ensures that scientific potential, specific know-how and the latest research results are incorporated into the work of ZeMA in a synergistic and sustainable manner.

The HyCATT research group—Hydrogen Center for Applied Technologies and Transformation—is establishing a new research focus on applied hydrogen technologies at ZeMA. The focus is on the development and application of innovative H2 technologies at the system level. To this end, HyCATT has its own infrastructure for the operation, optimization, and validation of H2 systems, including its own electrolysis, compression, and storage stages, as well as a refueling station and connection points along the entire hydrogen value chain.
