The Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) is a leading research institute in the field of renewable energy technologies. Since its establishment in 1988 as a non-profit foundation of the state of Baden-Württemberg, ZSW has an outstanding role in applied research in Germany. With around 330 employees and approximately 100 students at its locations in Stuttgart and Ulm, ZSW is dedicated to developing innovative solutions in wind energy, photovoltaics, batteries, hydrogen, fuel cells, and policy consulting.
At the ZSW site in Ulm with 220 employees, the focus is on batteries (lithium and post-lithium) as well as on PEM fuel cells and hydrogen technologies. All topics are covered in a holistic approach from material and component development to system integration and validation. The Centre is driving forward pioneering developments to promote the integration of these technologies into sustainable energy solutions. Through intensive co-operation with industrial partners and research institutes, ZSW Ulm supports companies in successfully bringing innovative products to market.
